THE MAKING OF

A fun and informal participative dance experience.

Beginning with a workshop, full of games that get you moving and interacting with each other in surprising and unexpected ways.

‘The Making Of’ ends with dancing in a dome with a live DJ, where participants go on a journey through a world where normal rules don’t apply.

RESEARCH AND IDEAS BEHIND ‘THE MAKING OF’

‘The Making Of’, formerly ‘The Making of Brian’, is an exciting collaborative dance experience with a big dome set, wild and wonderful costumes and a live DJ, that brings people together in a world of exuberance and play.

The project attempts to create another ‘world’, that uses movement, touch, music, set and costumes, to create an alternative paradigm for how we interact and connect with each other and our environment.

Through combining a workshop experience with a performance experience, it researches how to create environments that invite and gives permission to people, of different ages, abilities and experiences, to move in liberating and creative ways.

Every ‘The Making Of’ event is different.  Each one is uniquely shaped by a professional team of dancers, live DJ and group of participants, and is responsive to the mood, energy and personalities that they bring.  Together, the group are facilitated through games and tasks that move through different states, ‘listening and following’, ‘dressing up and fantasy’ and ‘rave’.

The work exercises equity between ‘professional’ and ‘non-professional’ dancers/people.  And researches how community can be built spontaneously, in the moment through movement and dance.
